Christina Zerwer, LCPC has been actively involved in the field of psychology since 2000 when she started her first college internship as a recreational therapist at an inpatient treatment center. Since then, she has gained experience in a variety of arenas, from nursery and elementary school to community mental health. She received a Master's of Arts in Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and graduated at the top of her class.
Ms. Zerwer enjoys working with clients of all ages and walks of life, but specializes in adults age 21 and older. As a Cognitive-Behavioral therapist, she works with each individual to uncover negative thoughts and communication patterns that are contributing to or exacerbating issues such as anxiety, depression, dysfunctional relationship patterns, job dissatisfaction, insomnia, over-eating, low self-esteem, and life transitions. She believes that each person ultimately has the power to change his or her negative thoughts, and it is the counselor's job to help identify those thoughts and provide suggestions for replacing them with something more positive.
Christina also provides workshops and trainings to local businesses for employees. She enjoys helping larger groups improve communication and time management skills, understand touchy topics such as sexual harassment and substance abuse, and even gain skills in reducing stress.
In her spare time, Christina enjoys reading mysteries, hiking, and being a mom.
